As part of the series of country visits being carried out this year, AHOP partners from the London School of Economics (LSE) and the WHO Regional Office for Africa (WHO AFRO) spent a week at the Kenya Medical Research Institute in Kilifi, where the platform’s Kenya National Centre is based.

Platform members met over a week in April 2023 primarily to discuss the production of  the Country Health Systems and Services Profile (CHSSP), but also to gain insight on the opportunities and challenges of platform activities in the Kenyan context.

Authors and editors of the Kenya Country Profile document updated WHO AFRO and LSE partners on the progress of the development of the profile, feedback on lessons-learned from the writing process, and valuable insight into the Kenyan health system and policy landscape.

As in the platform meeting held earlier in the year in Nairobi, AHOP partners also had the opportunity to meet representatives from the Kenya Ministry of Health.
